Ajay Industrial Corporation Zambia Limited donates reusable pads to Strong Girls Strong Zambia campaign

Ajay Industrial Corporation Zambia Limited has donated 250 packets of reusable sanitary towels to World Vision in Zambia to support the Strong Girls Strong Zambia campaign, whose goal is to empower 15000 girls retrieved from child marriages and those at risk.

The donation worth K22,000 ZMW ($1,325 US Dollars) was held at World Vision Zambia National Office in Lusaka.

Speaking during the donation, Ajay Industrial Corporation Zambia Limited Marketing and Sales Manager Kunda Ngosa said the company has realized how girls are impacted by menstrual hygiene issues and would like to support the Strong Girls Strong Zambia campaign with 250 packs of reusable pads to support girls.

Ms. Ngosa said poor menstrual hygiene practices influence school girls’ absenteeism and academic performance.

“The subject of menstrual hygiene is something that has been a challenge amongst adolescent females. The poor menstrual hygiene practices have affected the performance of girls in school, which has caused them to drop out of school and led to child marriages,” she said.

“As Ajay Industrial Corporation Zambia Limited, we developed a reusable sanitary pad known as a relief pad; this is a solution to end menstrual poverty among vulnerable girls,” she added.

Receiving and speaking on behalf of World Vision Zambia National Director John Hasse, the Business Support Service Associate Director, Lazarous Manda said the donation of reusable sanitary towels is a major boost in the successful implementation of the Strong Girls Strong Zambia campaign, which was launched in September.

He said the campaign aims to reach more than 15,000 girls retrieved from child marriage and those at risk to live safer, healthier, and more productive lives by 2025 in the 72 districts where World Vision operates.

the sanitary towels being donated today will go a long way towards helping provide a conducive learning environment that will keep 5,000 girls in school by 2025,” said Mr Manda.

Ajay Industrial Corporation Zambia Limited joins organizations such as CFAO Motors, ABSA Bank Zambia, and ZANACO Bank in donating to the Strong Girls Strong Zambia campaign.
